Contact with customers enriches the days of KYBURZ employees. Be it this week at the IFAT in Munich, towards the end of the month at the CYCLE WEEK in Zurich or regularly on test drive days.
In Embrach, employees are building 2ndLife vehicles and in Zurich, DXP has recently started operating as a ‘Zalando Courrier Service’.
If you want to have fun, buy a Globe book with DXP on the cover, hire an eRod or read the HausZeitung!
Have fun reading

Photo of the week: Test drive in Freienstein

2ndLife production is running at full speed
The assembly of 2ndLife vehicles is currently underway on the KYBURZ production line in Embrach. 120 vehicles are being produced. ‘These vehicles will be like new, but the assembly is more complicated than with new vehicles,’ says production employee Burhan Shoshaj. He is referring to improvements and simplifications that have been implemented over the years to improve new vehicles.
The team is also challenged in the work preparation department: ‘Organising the material so that it is prepared and delivered in the required quantity is a challenge,’ says Sandro Schmidli. He also has to re-enter the chassis numbers in the system (the vehicles have already been produced once) and reassign them.
Of the 120 vehicles that are being built these days, 40 will have new chassis. ‘The chassis is currently the limiting component,’ explains Carmine Volpe (Head of Supply Chain Management), because ‘there are also chassis that can no longer be used due to collisions and corrosion.’
However, the challenging implementation of the idea of the circular economy seems to motivate all employees, all the more so as twenty of the vehicles have already been sold!
Rent the eRod
The warm summer evenings are just around the corner! A ride on the eRod is great fun. But if you don't have an eRod in your garage, you don't have to miss out. KYBURZ also offers the eRod as a rental vehicle.
For just CHF 400, you can enjoy the eRod for a weekend. Daily rentals are just as possible as weekly or monthly rentals. One vehicle is even rented for the entire summer season. Madame eRod (Laurence Nève, 044 866 40 92) has an overview of the available vehicles and is looking forward to expanding the hire pool in the near future. It pays to book early!
Good to know:
KYBURZ employees can also contact Laurence!
KYBURZ vehicles deliver products from Zalando
notime, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, is launching a new service called ‘Zalando Courier Service’. Customers of the online mail order company Zalando can now determine the delivery time of their orders themselves with a 90-minute time window. The service is being offered in a pilot phase in five postal code areas in the greater Zurich area.
The ‘Zalando Courier Service’ uses small electric vehicles from KYBURZ. The vehicles are labelled Zalando and the drivers are also dressed accordingly.
KYBURZ and notime have been in contact for years and notime provides various services with KYBURZ vehicles. KYBURZ wishes ‘Have a good and safe journey!’
KYBURZ vehicles at the IFAT
IFAT in Munich is the trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. In short, it showcases products that are of interest to municipalities and cities. KYBURZ vehicles are one of them!
The KYBURZ reseller FBT Germany organised the stand. Thank you very much! The team is looking forward to welcoming you to stand B4.153/352 on Friday 17 May, where we hope to make many interesting contacts and hold many interesting discussions.
Good to know:
The exhibition centre in Munich is located on the site of the former Munich-Riem Airport. An entire city district has been built next to the exhibition centre since 1992. A short section of the runway has been left standing in a park as a reminder.

Globi at the post office - only a few copies left
In preparation for the move to Embrach in 2025, the web shop is already checking its stocks. It has been established that only a few copies of the book ‘Globi's new adventures at the post office’ are still available. So if you would still like to have a copy, we look forward to receiving your order! The Globi book is available in our webshop for CHF 25.50 excluding VAT.
Globi's new adventures at the post office
Globi had his first adventures at Swiss Post in 1997. A lot has changed since then, and it's time for a new look behind the scenes. That's why there are now brand new postal adventures with Globi. Our KYBURZ DXP is not only on the cover - Globi also distributes the mail with him in the book.
Prix SVC Preisträgertreffen bei Wild & Küpfer
Guido Stalder and Dominik von Arb, representing KYBURZ, visited the SVC award winners' meeting to gain an insight into the world of precision plastic injection moulding. Wild & Küpfer AG in Schmerikon won the Prix SVC for the Eastern Switzerland region in 2022 - in the same year as KYBURZ in the Zurich region.
The Prix SVC draws attention to the achievements of small and medium-sized companies. The award winners' meetings - one was also held at KYBURZ in Freienstein last year - give companies the opportunity to network and are inspiring!
KYBURZ Switzerland supports the awarding of the Prix SVC 2024 of the Zurich Economic Area as a Bronze Partner! The award ceremony will take place on 26 November 2024 at the Kongresshaus in Zurich.
A day in the life of Joel Damasio
Rina Suka: How long have you been working at KYBURZ?
Joel Damasio: I've been part of the KYBURZ team since 1 December 2023.
Rina: How did you hear about us?
Joel: My wife Diana, who was already working in the Fleet Team, heard about a vacancy in her team that matched my qualifications.
Rina: What did you do before KYBURZ?
Joel: Before I came to Switzerland, I worked in Portugal. Firstly as a software developer for energy management software. Then I immersed myself in the world of automotive systems engineering at Continental Engineering Services, where I was involved in the development of a control unit for a new car.
When I moved to Switzerland about a year ago, I worked in Lucerne on the development of a control unit for a Swiss-made aircraft before joining KYBURZ.
Rina: What are your strengths?
Joel: My strengths are my communication skills, objectivity, organisation and friendliness.
Rina: What motivates you?
Joel: My team is wonderful and I really enjoy the dynamic environment. It's a very inspiring company. Electric vehicles are of particular interest to me, as I did my Master's degree in the field of electric vehicles and electric machines. I was very fascinated and interested in this topic, which is why I can identify with KYBURZ's vision.
Rina: What does your typical day look like?
Joel: My typical daily activities are varied and depend on customer needs. Occasionally it is necessary for me to visit customers and my tasks become more hands-on. This may involve a demonstration of our system, training for a new installation or troubleshooting directly on the vehicle. In terms of work, I provide software support and work closely with Mario.
As I was born in Lausanne before moving to Portugal with my family, I also speak fluent French. I now have a lot of contact with our French-speaking partners and KYBURZ customers.
Rina: What do you particularly like about KYBURZ?
Joel: I like the fact that a Swiss company manufactures its own Swiss electric vehicles in Switzerland and sells them internationally.
Rina: What do you like to do in your free time?
Joel: In Portugal, I used to go surfing a lot in my free time. I also started brewing beer at home with my friends during the Covid pandemic. Since I've been in Switzerland, I've enjoyed snowboarding and would like to do it more often. I like to go hiking with my wife and our dogs and enjoy going to parties and barbecues.
Rina: What are your plans for the future?
Joel: My plans for the future include improving my knowledge and learning more about management. I want to focus less on technology and more on management in the future. I'm also planning to buy a house in a few years. I'm thinking about staying here long-term, taking early retirement and travelling the world - that's my dream.
